CONCOR
was incorporated in March, 1988 as a Public Sector Undertaking under the
Ministry of Railways with the main objective of being a catalyst for promoting
containerisation and to give a boost to India's International and internal
trade and commerce by organizing multi modal logistics support.
INLAND
CONTAINER DEPOT, SANATNAGAR, HYDERABAD.
CONCOR
had set up an Inland Container Depot (lCD) in the premises of Railway
Goodshed Complex, Moosapet, Sanatnagar, Hyderabad during December, 1990
(which is 12 Kms from Secunderabad Railway Station on the NH 7 (Hyderabad
- Mumbai Highway).
The
full-fledged Dry Port serves the hinterland of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka
and Maharashtra. The first phase has been successfully commissioned in
1998 with project outlay of Rs. 12 Crores.
a)
FUNCTION OF CONCOR:
|
*
Provide Rail and Road Transport of International Containerised Cargo
at competitive prices between Inland locations and gateway ports.
* Expand CONCOR's network of container terminals in the country
so as to retain CONCOR pre-eminence in container handling and transport
business.
* Supplement Indian Railway's efforts to meet the Shippers' committed
targets for bulk cargo by transportation through container services
wherever needed, running scheduled container services for piecemeal
general goods cargo, which over the years had been diverted from
Rail to Road.
* Spearhead the Container Revolution in India.
* Provide single - window facility in coordination with all associated
agencies like Customs, Shipping Lines/Agents, Shippers, CHAs, Road
haulers, for qualitative, cost-effective and efficient services
in domestic and international trade.
* Assessing the requirements of and designing suitable infrastructure
for rapid and accelerated inland penetration of containerised international
trade traffic, at least cost to the society.
